Dharubaaruge and its services

Dharubaaruge is a convention centre originally built for the 5th SAARC summit held in Maldives in the year 1990. It is a symbol of Maldivian public unity. Members of the public worked hard day and night to finish this centre in time for the 5th SAARC summit.

It underwent Dharubaaruge has undergone major phases of construction and currently it is the largest convention centre in the country.

Now it is a place rented out to the government authorities and the general public to hold functions like conventions, trade fairs, training workshops and seminars and even wedding receptions and parties.

Public works services, manages and maintains Dharubaaruge and its premises, to create and to maximize public enjoyment in the usage of the facility.

Male’ and Villingili inner harbour

Male’ is businesses and transportation center of the country. During the year’s vessels using the Male’ inner harbour has gone up quite rapidly. The maximum length of vessels using the services of Male’ inner harbour should be 100 feet.

Pubic Works Services has been assigned the tasks of maintaining, managing and regulating Male’ and Villingili inner harbour and its surroundings, to create and to maximize public enjoyment in the usage of these facilities.

Male’ inner harbour has been divided into several zones to facilitate easy access to all the people who would be using it and its services. Workshop

This unit provides support to the other units and operations of Public Works Services. It also undertakes some activities on a commercial basis to the public, mainly because some of the services provided by PWS workshop are not available else where within the country.
